Blacklight
When I was hired at Blacklight, a small, fast-paced marketing startup, one of my first projects was to redesign their existing website, which had been neglected while the company was finding their footing. The new website was a significant step forward in establishing their brand identity and presence as they emerged into the marketing scene in Nashville.
Growth Points
- First time working in Webflow, a platform I’d never used before
- Established a productive workflow with the developer and SEO specialist during QA and launch
Research & Sitemap
To begin, I met with the CEO to strategize. He envisioned the website to reflect how he wanted the company wanted to present itself—aggressive, bold, and disruptive.
Before starting to iterate, I explored and analyzed both local and national marketing agency websites, noting their use of strong UVPs and case studies, which the current site lacked.
With this in mind, I created a new sitemap and blocked out content for each page.
The Prototype
Using my mood board and sitemap as a base, I built out a prototype for the new site in Figma, starting with loose, quick wireframes and then progressing to a hi-fidelity prototype, built to be fully interactive.
The Final product
The final website was built in Webflow in collaboration with the developer. New key pages included more robust home and services pages, as well as a portfolio page that filtered by service, allowing users to see case studies from real clients.
Now with a defined styled guide, the website has the potential to flex and grow with the company.
